Bachelor's Degree in Earth Sciences
Sorbonne Université, France
Overview
At the crossroads of chemistry, mechanics, physics, computer science and life sciences,
Earth Sciences are particularly compatible with the major-minor program at Sorbonne
University. The objective of the single-discipline Earth Sciences degree program is to provide
students with a multidisciplinary education that integrates these subjects to understand the dynamics
of the Earth system.
As part of a bi-disciplinary program, the Earth Sciences major is particularly compatible
with a chemistry minor to train in the themes of geological materials and resources, with a
physics or mechanics minor for themes related to the geophysics of
the Earth's internal or external envelopes, and with a life sciences minor for themes related to paleontology and
oceanography.
The Earth Sciences degree offers two minors:
• An Earth Sciences minor allowing bi-disciplinary students to train
specifically in the issues of geosciences that are related to their major (life sciences,
Mechanics, Physics, Computer Science) via a wide choice of possible teaching units
• A Geology minor that can be combined either with a Chemistry major to prepare for the
Geo-P master's degree, or with a life sciences major to prepare for the
secondary education competitive examinations in SVT.
It also offers a complementary career in Water Quality Resources, Environment allowing students
to combine obtaining their degree with a work-study program in L3.
