Theater Arts – Design & Technology

The Theater Arts – Design & Technology program at Rutgers University–Camden offers a comprehensive and immersive experience in the behind-the-scenes world of theatrical production. This program equips students with the artistic, technical, and collaborative skills necessary to create dynamic stage environments. Students explore scenic, lighting, sound, and costume design through hands-on coursework, studio work, and active participation in university theater productions.

The curriculum emphasizes both the creative process and the practical application of design concepts. Students gain proficiency in drafting, 3D modeling, rendering, sewing, prop construction, and programming lighting and sound systems using industry-standard software and tools. Students work side-by-side with directors, actors, and production teams, building strong teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills.
