Rutgers University–Camden

Rutgers University–Camden is a dynamic public research university and one of the three regional campuses of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Located just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, it combines the resources of a major research institution with the personalized learning environment of a smaller campus. With a student-faculty ratio of 15:1 and an average class size of 24, Rutgers–Camden offers an intimate, supportive academic atmosphere.

The university offers 38 undergraduate majors and 29 graduate programs, including master’s and doctoral degrees in fields such as law, business, nursing, public affairs, and childhood studies. Its schools include the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business (AACSB-accredited), School of Nursing, School of Law (ABA-approved), and the Graduate School.

Rutgers–Camden is classified as an R2 institution for “high research activity” and is nationally recognized for its commitment to social mobility, community engagement, and access to education. The campus is a federally designated Minority-Serving Institution and a Purple Heart University, supporting veterans and underserved communities. Students contribute over 200,000 hours of community service annually, reflecting the school’s deep civic commitment.

Home to approximately 6,000–7,000 students, Rutgers–Camden fosters a diverse and vibrant community, with about 59% of its students identifying as people of color. More than 90% of students receive financial aid, and special programs are available to provide tuition assistance for in-state students from lower-income backgrounds.

Beyond academics, students enjoy over 100 clubs and organizations, Greek life, NCAA Division III athletics (Scarlet Raptors), and a thriving arts scene, including the Walter K. Gordon Theater. The campus is located in an urban environment that offers both cultural opportunities and professional access to Philadelphia.
