Dental Therapy and Hygiene (Hons)
Mile End Campus (Main), United Kingdom
Dental Therapy and Hygiene is a three‑year Bachelor of Science degree that prepares students for registration as dental therapists and hygienists. The curriculum integrates biomedical foundations, oral biology, and clinical practice, beginning with core modules in year one that cover oral structure, systemic health, and basic clinical techniques. In year two, students apply this knowledge to restorative dentistry, disease management, and community outreach, participating in patient treatment across university clinics and local centres. The final year focuses on advanced clinical procedures, emergency care, and a research project, utilising digital scanning and contemporary restorative methods. Throughout the programme, teaching employs lectures, seminars, laboratory sessions, virtual simulations, and extensive clinical exposure, while assessment combines continuous coursework, objective structured clinical examinations, and a final research dissertation.
