About This Course
Students wanting to study a combination of Film Studies and English Literature will develop skills and techniques to produce audio-visual material as well as essential key skills for many of the creative industries. You will study a range of literature from the medieval to the contemporary, while developing your individual interests. This course will equip you with a solid understanding in the theoretical, technical and practical skills making you a sought-after professional in these fields.
Central to this cross-disciplinary degree is the development of your understanding and awareness of the rich possibilities of film and literature when placed in dialogue. We help you to broaden your approach to the study of both forms by placing them within different historical and theoretical frameworks.

Course Content
Each of your chosen modules will have around 2-3 hours of face-to-face teaching each week. Teaching usually takes the form of small seminars, lectures, and workshops, where you will get the chance to meet and engage with your peers. Seminar and lecture time is also supplemented by virtual learning environments, such as Blackboard, and we offer access to a range of digital resources to support your learning. Assessment methods can take the form of written coursework, take-home exams, as well as oral presentations.
In addition to what takes place in the classroom, there are lots of exciting opportunities for you to boost your skills and knowledge. We regularly run theatre trips, film showings, gallery visits, and each month there is the chance to hear visiting creative writers. Bangor also hosts the FilmSoc and LitSoc, our student-run societies for students who are passionate about film and literatures, which together run a variety of cultural and social events.
