About This Course
This course develops connections between critical study of English Literature and the creative practice of writing in a variety of forms. You will learn to approach texts as both a reader and a writer, discovering synergies between these different perspectives. You will study a broad range of English literature while developing your practical skills, confidence and independent vision as a creative writer. This course offers the chance to develop skills in critical analysis and imaginative problem solving that are relevant to a range of career paths.
Taught by experts in the field of English Literary study, alongside experienced novelists and poets, a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from Bangor University will enable you to increase your understanding of literature, whilst also helping you to hone you own creative voice as a writer. Course Content
Each of your chosen modules will have around 2-3 hours of face-to-face teaching each week. Teaching usually takes the form of small seminars, lectures, and workshops, where you will get the chance to meet and engage with your peers.
Outside of the classroom and lecture room, students can take part in extracurricular activities, such as trips to libraries, archives, museums, and to the theatre. We also regularly welcome visiting academics and professional authors, who provide readings and performances of their work.
Assessment methods can take the form of written coursework, portfolios, take-home exams, as well as oral presentations.
