Program Overview: Childhood and Youth Studies and Sociology (Welsh-medium)
This joint honours degree delivered through the medium of Welsh prepares you to work with, support, protect, or advocate for the rights of children, young people, and their families in a range of care and community settings. You will study 50% Childhood and Youth Studies and 50% Sociology, engaging with topics relevant to 21st-century childhood and youth while investigating social life and the way it shapes behaviour, beliefs, and identity.
The Childhood and Youth Studies component covers the history of childhood, children's rights, the nature of childhood, and the role of adults working with children in national, European, and international contexts. You will engage in academic study spanning psychology, sociology, social policy, education, health, and welfare as they relate to children's lives.
The Sociology component examines face-to-face interactions of daily life through to large-scale social institutions, social movements, and global processes.
