Piri Reis University, Turkey's first and only maritime-specialized university, is located on its BREEAM-accredited Green Campus in Tuzla, Istanbul, on the coast of the Marmara Sea. The campus features approximately 60,000 square meters of indoor training facilities, including state-of-the-art maritime simulators and a dedicated training pool for underwater exercises.

Curriculum and Modules
The Underwater Technology curriculum spans four semesters and is designed around the professional qualifications required of certified divers. Students gain both theoretical foundations and applied skills through modules that cover diving science, underwater engineering techniques, maritime operations, and safety procedures.
Covers the chemical, physical, and biological properties of fresh and saltwater diving environments. Students learn how pressure, temperature, and gas laws affect the human body underwater.
Provides comprehensive training on understanding, operating, and maintaining diving systems used in professional underwater operations. Includes practical sessions with both surface-supplied and self-contained diving apparatus.
Trains students in the use of underwater welding and cutting tools and equipment. Students gain theoretical knowledge about explosives and practical skills for underwater repair and construction tasks.
Focuses on diving accidents, diseases, and their treatments, including the operation of pressure chambers used in hyperbaric medicine. Students learn to recognize and respond to decompression sickness and other diving-related medical emergencies.
Teaches students to use underwater imaging devices and interpret the images obtained through computer technology. Covers sonar systems, ROV-based imaging, and photographic documentation techniques.
