Mathematics with Philosophy BA

Philosophy modules are taught by specialists from the Philosophy department, providing engagement with two distinct academic communities. Key themes are explored through a diverse range of traditions, including Analytic, Continental, Indian, Chinese, and feminist thought.

During the second year, mathematical knowledge in analysis, algebra, probability, and statistics is deepened. Philosophical understanding is expanded through guided study and optional topics such as the philosophy of science, metaethics, and 19th-century analytic philosophy.

Progression into the third year allows for the selection of modules tailored to specific interests, facilitating the acquisition of specialist skills for various career pathways. Potential areas of study include cryptography, graph theory, abstract algebra, and the moral, political, and legal aspects of philosophy.
