Information Systems Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Address, Germany
Overview
During your studies, you have various subjects, which consist of one or more modules. A module deals with a specific topic and consists of one or more courses. In the module handbook for your degree program, you will find a description of the modules and their subject assignment as well as a study plan. This gives you an orientation as to which courses you should attend in which semester in order to complete your studies within the standard period of study. It takes into account a balanced distribution of courses over the individual semesters. It also ensures that you are first taught the important basics before moving on to more advanced topics. Your individual course of study may differ from this.
Information Systems at KIT is characterized by a real interdisciplinary approach based on a cross-department model. The program content of the first four semesters is organized in five subjects:
- Information Systems (16 CP)
- basic concepts of business informatics, concepts and systems for digitalization at the individual, group, organizational and market levels
- Computer Science (54 - 63 CP)
- you will attend the courses Fundamentals of Computer Science, Programming, Algorithms, Theoretical Foundations, Communication and Data Management and Software Engineering together with the students on the bachelor's degree program in Informatics. You will also take Applied Computer Science.
- Mathematics (26 LP)
- your mathematics program includes linear algebra, analysis, development of mathematical models, descriptive statistics, probability theory, elements of estimation and test theory
- Economics (31 - 40 CP)
- business administration (marketing, production, finance and accounting), operations research and economics
- Law (26 CP)
- fundamentals of the German Civil Code, public law and commercial law
You will also attend a seminar (3 CP), which must belong to one of the areas of computer science, economics or law. You take your elective modules in the 5th and 6th semesters. They aim to deepen and apply your knowledge.
