Overview

Highly flexible, this course offers lots of choice in the specialist subject modules you can take and the ways in which you learn. Some modules are delivered through lectures and tutorials, some are provided online and you can take others in your own workplace. You will study both on your own and as part of a group. Your project work will also give you vital experience of working in teams. Located in the heart of England and boasting a thriving technology-based economy, Derby is the ideal city in which to study Engineering. With nearly four times the national average of people employed in high technology occupations, it is home to world-famous companies such as Rolls-Royce, Toyota and JCB. If you are an international student, you can combine the bridging course with an appropriate English language course if you need to meet our international entry requirements. You will be able to engage in a broad range of activities, such as industrial visits to companies like Rolls-Royce, Mitsubishi and NPL. You will also have the opportunity to attend and contribute to the Derby Electrical and Electronic Research Showcase (DEERS) conference – a chance to see latest developments from across the region, to network with industry specialists and to trial new ideas.
