Vadi Campus, Turkey
The duration of education at Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy is five years and an evidence-based education program is applied. There are two programs in our faculty: Pharmacy (Turkish) and Pharmacy (English). Our programs are structured in full compliance with the “National Pharmacy Core Education Program (EczÇEP-2015)”, which covers the “minimum” requirements determined for the Pharmacy Faculties in Türkiye to continue their education and training activities. As stated in the EczÇEP documents, “The main purpose of education and training is to prepare people for life. Vocational education strives to prepare future professionals for the business life in which they will work and to provide them with the ability to do work for the benefit of the society in which they live. It is expected that a university graduate is ready for professional life with his/her knowledge and skills and will always lead the society. It should be the most important mission of universities to try to provide education and training that is as close to the sectoral elements in current life as possible and that provides information that is suitable for their needs.” In this context, our faculty has adopted an "outcome-oriented (competencies planned to be achieved at the end of education)" approach during the creation of its curriculum; "it aims to equip young people who choose the pharmacy profession with up-to-date drug and health information using theoretical and practical applications and to train them as 'eight-star pharmacists' who contribute to the society they live in." Another goal of the Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy is to ensure that its graduates are at a level of competence that will enable them to undertake and implement the duties expected of a pharmacist at national and global levels. The "Extended Education Program (EEP)", which includes the differences of our faculty from other pharmacy faculties and at least 70% of which is composed of CEP, has been prepared with a focus on the future roles and functions of the pharmacist and to train pharmacists who will bring our country to a point where it will assume a leading role in pharmacy in the world. In this regard, an evidence-based education approach has been adopted at Istinye University Faculty of Pharmacy, and by using evidence-based strategies in all education and training activities, pharmacists who will practice "evidence-based pharmacy" in the future are trained.
