Motorsport Engineering BEng

This Motorsport Engineering program provides grounding in vehicle design, manufacturing, and testing alongside core engineering principles, preparing students for careers in motorsport and automotive engineering. Rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023 and holding 5 QS Stars for Teaching and Facilities, the curriculum features industry-aligned learning through live projects, Formula Student participation, and collaborations with motorsport teams developing practical expertise in aerodynamics, materials, and vehicle systems. Students gain hands-on experience participating in real-world motorsport challenges including the IMechE Formula Student competition, where they design, build, and test a race car under professional constraints while competing against university teams from the UK and internationally. Training occurs in race-ready facilities including a Mercedes-AMG wind tunnel, 6DoF driving simulator, engine and chassis dynamometers, VR Power Wall, Rapid Prototyping facility, and composites laboratories, mirroring professional motorsport engineering environments. Students may join the MEng through direct entry or transfer from the BEng upon achieving strong results, allowing progression to master's level qualification while paying undergraduate fees. The program combines motorsport specialisation with mechanical engineering fundamentals, opening doors to automotive, research and development, and performance engineering roles.
