The Master of Science in Innovation and Technology Management (ITEM) is a two-year program offered jointly by the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. It is designed for students who want to develop multidisciplinary skills suited to the new business contexts generated by Industry 4.0 innovations.

The program provides the fundamental economic and technological understanding students need to frame and analyze business contexts and the potential applications of new technologies. It covers economics, law, strategy, data analytics, and technology applications to manage innovation, assess financial viability, and drive organizational change.

Taught entirely in English across three academic terms (Autumn, Winter, and Spring), ITEM prepares flexible professional profiles capable of understanding the potential of product and process technologies and generating new market spaces and business opportunities. Innovation Economics and Strategy

10 ECTS

Explores macroeconomic scenarios and technological developments with significant impact on business organization and management. Students learn to identify strategic opportunities arising from technological disruption.

Technology and Operations Management

10 ECTS

Focuses on recognizing innovation potential in products and processes, planning and carrying out implementation projects, and evaluating outcomes on an ex-post basis.

Business Models and Entrepreneurship

10 ECTS

Familiarizes students with today's most promising business models and provides tools for adopting them in medium-large businesses as well as launching new start-up ventures.

Financial Analysis of Innovation Projects

10 ECTS

Provides knowledge of performance-measurement and capital-budgeting tools required to evaluate innovation projects on an economic and financial level.

Legal Frameworks for Technology Adoption

8 ECTS

Addresses the legal implications of implementing technology adoption programs, covering both civil and criminal law dimensions relevant to innovation management.

Data Analytics and Market Analysis
