Geology (Thesis Based)

The MSc in Geology is a two-year program that combines advanced coursework with a significant research component. 

• Duration: Two full academic years, from September to April, with research also conducted during the intervening summer.
• Thesis: The core of the program is the thesis, which must present a scholarly work using a scientific method to investigate a geological problem. The thesis research is expected to be of a potentially publishable quality.
• Courses: Students take additional courses to broaden their knowledge in the discipline, complementing their research. Examples of courses include Appalachian Geology, Paleoecology, and advanced topics in sedimentology and petrology.
