Photonics

Photonics is of great importance in many industrial sectors and areas that use photonic technology for research, data- and telecommunication, business, education, security and defence, imaging, medicine, process control, biotechnology, quantum computation, energy generation, environmental sensing, etc. The two-year Master's program in the area of Photonics provides students with a unique opportunity to become familiar with the applications of light in fields that range from fundamental research to technological applications. Graduates of the program represent excellent knowledge in mathematics, physics, electronics, and information technologies and have high qualifications to work for various institutions. During studies, they may learn both: theory and practice, and they are following the core photonic courses as Electromagnetism Theory, Principles of Optics, Fourier Optics and Nonlinear Optics, as well as Optical Imaging Theory. The Faculty also offers advanced and specialised courses in optics and photonics covering all relevant fundamental research and applications, including training in lasers, optical and photonic crystal fibres, liquid crystal photonics, optical waveguides, displays, holography, optoelectronics, optical sensing, data and telecommunication, terahertz technology, new material technology, ultrafast and nonlinear optical phenomena, photovoltaics. The Photonics course offers advanced laboratories.
