Medicine is the science of the causes, cure, and prevention of disease. The primary activities of a physician include the diagnosis and treatment of human illnesses, ailments, or physical injuries, preventive and follow-up care, and research.

The goal of medical training is to produce a physician who is scientifically and practically trained in medicine and capable of practicing medicine independently and autonomously, as well as for continuing education and ongoing professional development. The training is intended to impart fundamental knowledge, skills, and abilities in all disciplines necessary for comprehensive healthcare for the population. Medical training is conducted on a scientific basis and is practice- and patient-focused.
