Program Overview: General Medicine (MD) at University of Szeged

The General Medicine (MD) program at the University of Szeged's Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School is a comprehensive 6-year undivided master's program that awards the title of Doctor of Medicine. Named after Nobel Prize laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi, who conducted his groundbreaking Vitamin C research in Szeged, the medical school has a distinguished heritage dating back to 1872.

The first two years build a solid foundation in basic medical sciences, while from the third year onward, training extends into regular clinical practice where students actively participate in the work of clinical departments and teaching hospitals. The faculty's scientific laboratories also offer extensive opportunities for students interested in high-standard research.

During the final two semesters, students complete 40 weeks of clinical rotations through different medical specialties, treating patients under the supervision of experienced physicians. Upon graduation, students are fully prepared to begin their careers as physicians and can pursue licensing pathways globally, including in the EU, USA, and UK.
