Biology M.Sc.
University of Regensburg Campus, Germany
Overview
The study program has a high share of practical courses with strong scientific character. Due to the possibility to freely combine emphasis subjects, it is on the one hand a broad-ranging study of biology, but on the other hand makes it possible to concentrate on one defined subdiscipline. The best qualified students have the opportunity to start with a PhD at the University of Regensburg after the second semester (fast track).
The master's program serves to consolidate scientific skills and is more research orientated than the bachelor's program. It comprises four semester and is structured in three emphasis subjects with a theoretical and a practical module each and three skills-modules. The study program is completed with a nine-month master thesis.
Biology is a rapidly developing division of science. The demand for graduates in biology has been consistently rising in the last years. However, there is no single "biologist" profession. Nevertheless, the intensive education in biology at university is an ideal prerequisite to find a job in a diverse field of possible occupational fields and establishments. For example, in universities and other scientific or medical facilities, or in the industry, administration or further diverse areas (consultation, analytics, journalism, environmental protection and planning).
