Program Overview: Graduate Diploma of Theological Studies

The Graduate Diploma of Theological Studies at the University of Notre Dame Australia is a one-year full-time (or equivalent part-time) postgraduate program designed for graduates from any discipline who wish to develop advanced knowledge in Catholic Theology. Whether you are preparing for ministry, pastoral work, or deepening your personal faith, this program offers a rigorous yet accessible entry into theological scholarship.

Delivered through Notre Dame's School of Philosophy and Theology, the program is also offered through an exclusive partnership with the Catholic Institute of Sydney (CIS), giving you the flexibility to study externally, at a CIS campus, or on Notre Dame's Fremantle or Sydney campus. You will choose eight courses that span the breadth of the theological tradition, guided by experienced lecturers in a supportive, community-oriented learning environment.

Upon completion, graduates will be able to demonstrate advanced theoretical knowledge of theology, critically review and synthesise knowledge across multiple theological disciplines, and communicate complex theological concepts to diverse audiences. This program serves as an excellent foundation for further postgraduate study, including the Master of Theological Studies.
