Cyber Security and IT Forensics

The BSc in Cyber Security and IT Forensics at the University of Limerick is designed to equip students with the expertise needed to design, manage, and secure networks and telecommunications systems. The program begins with a strong foundation in programming and computer science fundamentals in the first year. From the third semester onward, students delve into specialized topics such as cryptography, data forensics, cybersecurity law, and host and network security. Practical laboratory experience is emphasized throughout the course, ensuring students gain hands-on skills in operating systems, networks, web technologies, and mobile development. The curriculum also includes a cooperative education placement, providing 30 weeks of industrial work experience. In the final year, students undertake a capstone project that integrates their learned skills in design, implementation, testing, and reporting. Graduates are prepared to tackle challenges in cybersecurity, secure network design, and digital forensics, making them competitive in the global job market.
