Curriculum and Modules

The Bioscience BSc curriculum begins with a broad common first year covering biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics. From Year 2, you specialise in bioscience-focused modules that build expertise in cell biology, molecular medicine, immunology, and biotechnology, culminating in a final-year research project.

General Chemistry and Biology Foundations

6 ECTS

Covers fundamental principles of general chemistry and biology, including cellular structures, chemical bonding, and introductory laboratory techniques essential for bioscience studies.

Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology

6 ECTS

Examines cellular structures including organelles and cytoskeleton, key cellular processes such as trafficking, motility, and apoptosis, and systems biology approaches to understanding disease.

Immunobiology

6 ECTS

Explores the immune system and how the body protects itself against infection, covering innate and adaptive immunity, host-microbe interactions, and immunological responses.

Cancer Mechanisms, Therapeutics and Molecular Medicine

6 ECTS

Examines cell cycle controls in relation to cancer biology and the use of modern molecular technologies for developing new therapeutic strategies and molecular medicine approaches.

Omics and Bioinformatics

6 ECTS

Introduces genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics tools used to extract meaningful data from large biological datasets, with applications in research and diagnostics.

Final Year Research Project

12 ECTS

An independent research project conducted under faculty supervision, allowing you to apply your knowledge to a specific area of bioscience such as neuroscience, microbiology, or molecular medicine.
