Acting BA
Preston Campus, United Kingdom
Year 1 builds core acting skills through movement, voice and text-based training, including improvisation, expressivity and techniques such as Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, Alexander Technique, yoga, clowning and voice methods from Cicely Berry and Patsy Rodenburg, alongside Stanislavski and Shakespeare. You also work with a professional director to rehearse and perform in a full-scale public production while learning audition, rehearsal and production skills.
Year 2 develops your expressive range through psycho-physical and collaborative approaches, exploring ensemble acting and viewpoints, alongside modernist and postmodern theatre practices. You’ll deepen your understanding of performance-making and collaboration while continuing practical performance work.
Year 3 focuses on professional and contemporary practice. You’ll explore acting across theatre, radio, TV and digital media, including camera and microphone techniques, and self-taping. You will perform in advanced productions, create original work for public audiences, and prepare for the industry through showreels, auditions, and one-to-one mentoring, gaining the skills needed to transition into a professional acting career.
