Chemistry (B.Sc.)
North Campus, Germany
Overview
The study programme qualifies students to become chemists in the professional areas of research and practice. The goal of the programme is to produce qualified, critical and responsible chemists who can participate in the constructive development of their field in an independent way. In order to achieve this, our students actively acquire both exüerimental practice and the theoretical foundations of the sub-disciplines of chemistry and independently transfer the principles deduced from examples to new problem areas.
Chemistry at the Georg-August-University is known for its excellence in research. Its research is focused on "Functional Biomolecular Biology", "Sustainable Chemistry" and "MaterialsAnalytical Methods on Molecular Interaction". The Bachelor's programme is characterised by its breadth and depth of training: along with well-founded specialist knowledge of the subject and the related research, key qualifications are imparted within the scope of practical training. Our students have the opportunity to participate in current research projects at an early stage of the study programme and are able to take advantage of a wide range of scientific facilities ranging from the neighbouring Max Planck Institutes to the XLAB. A free optional prep course helps getting started with studying. Additional digital support is given, such as videotutorials or e-labcourses.
Research-oriented profile: preparation for the subsequent Master's programme (for possible professions see this programme's page); practice-oriented profile: scientific journalism, scientific publishing, public relations, chemical informatics, independent research, etc.
