Dance (2 years) MFA

These dance programmes blend practice with theory, preparing you for a wide range of careers in the dance industry. You will study a broad spectrum of dance forms, challenging traditional Western dance canons, and learn from UEL’s expert staff with nearly two decades of teaching in dance. The core modules cover critical theories of performance, dramaturgy, and representation, along with intensive training in different dance practices and collaborative creation. You’ll develop skills in dance curation, production, and digital archiving, while using research methods to support your final project showcase. Through the Mental Wealth module, you’ll build an industry-ready portfolio, mastering audition techniques, self-taping, funding applications, and professional networking. In the second year for MFA students, you’ll focus on bridging artistic skills with professional practice, developing a full-length creative work and engaging in supervised industry projects or placements. The programme is designed for aspiring performers, choreographers, producers, and educators, equipping you to innovate and lead in the global dance landscape. Modules emphasize critical thinking, inclusivity, and applying theoretical concepts to performance making.
