Medical imaging is the use of various technologies to create images of the inside of the body. It is a vital part of modern medicine. It can be used to diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases. Radiology is one subfield of medical imaging.

Throughout the course, you will learn to:

  • develop your skills, knowledge, and understanding of engineering design, medical imaging technologies and the clinical environment
  • apply, develop, and improve medical imaging and biotechnological products and systems
  • study techniques relevant to life sciences such as:
  • electrical
  • microwave
  • magnetic
  • acoustic
  • optical
  • study analytical and imaging techniques relevant for biology, biomolecular, and clinical sciences
  • receive broad practical training in biology and biomolecular sciences
  • undertake a research project. Recent projects have looked at topics such as:
  • minimally invasive high-resolution imaging for neurosurgery
  • tissue mimicking materials for the detection of prostate cancer using shear wave elastography
