Inclusion Oral Health PGCert

The Dental Public Health degree is designed to foster a deep critical awareness of the current challenges and emerging insights within the fields of oral epidemiology and health promotion. The curriculum emphasizes the evaluation of existing methodologies and the proposal of new strategies to advance practice and reduce global oral health inequalities. Students gain expertise in planning and assessing health promotion initiatives, conducting comprehensive needs assessments, and designing robust oral health surveys while critically analyzing their limitations.

A significant portion of the course is dedicated to understanding the concepts of inclusion health, vulnerability, and intersectionality as they apply to dental public health. The program also explores the principles of co-design and co-production in the development of oral health services and interventions. By navigating the global evidence ecosystem, students learn how evidence-based practice directly informs healthcare delivery and research evaluation.

The course is delivered by a multidisciplinary team, including Consultants and Specialists in dental public health, senior academics, and researchers from NHS Education for Scotland (NES). This professional training ensures graduates are equipped to lead research and service evaluation projects, improving public health outcomes in diverse and complex environments.
