The architecture of the Maya as the pinnacle of ancient American building cultures will take centre stage, writes Pieper, but its special features will always be considered in comparison with other architectural traditions in Mesoamerica. Furthermore, the lectures will deal with the specific terminology of pre-Columbian architecture. Where are the similarities and differences to the architectural thinking of the Old World?
