Accelerated Nursing BS

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science (ABS) in Nursing program at Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden is designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-nursing discipline and are now seeking a career in nursing. This intensive, full-time program provides a direct, efficient pathway into the nursing profession by offering a rigorous curriculum that can be completed in just 15 months.

The ABS program combines academic excellence, hands-on clinical experience, and personalized support, preparing students to meet the demands of modern healthcare. Students receive the same high-quality clinical and theoretical training as those enrolled in the traditional four-year BSN program. The curriculum includes coursework in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, adult and pediatric nursing care, mental health nursing, community health, and leadership in nursing practice.

Clinical rotations are conducted in partnership with some of the region’s most respected healthcare institutions, giving students valuable experience in diverse clinical settings. These rotations ensure that graduates are prepared to provide patient-centered care across various populations and healthcare environments.

In addition to academic and clinical training, the program emphasizes the development of critical thinking, communication, cultural competence, and ethical decision-making, equipping students to excel in fast-paced and diverse healthcare systems. Graduates of the ABS program are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam and are well-positioned to enter the workforce as registered nurses or continue their education in advanced nursing roles.
