Curriculum and Modules
The BA (Hons) Product Design curriculum is structured across three years of progressive, project-based learning. You will develop skills in 2D and 3D design, user research, the iterative design process, and current design software, building confidence through live and self-initiated briefs while exploring essential areas of the discipline.
An introductory module where you explore the fundamentals of product design, develop essential 2D and 3D design skills, and begin building your own approach to the design process through guided experimentation.
This module focuses on developing your technical proficiency in materials, manufacturing processes, prototyping, and current design software packages used across the product design industry.
You will deepen your specialist skills through advanced projects exploring ergonomics, sustainability, user experience, and emerging creative technologies, refining your individual design identity.
This module develops your critical thinking and research skills, culminating in a long-form dissertation that demonstrates your contextual studies research and analytical capabilities.
Working on collaborative briefs with peers across creative disciplines, you engage with industry design challenges and competitions, developing teamwork and professional communication skills.
