Management of Intellectual Property MSc
Mile End Campus (Main), United Kingdom
The MSc Intellectual Property programme consists of compulsory modules that introduce the foundations of patent, trade mark, design and copyright law and their operation within domestic, European and international frameworks. Learners examine how rights are acquired, the extent of exclusive protection, infringement issues, available defences and licensing possibilities, and they analyse the role of key conventions such as the European Patent Convention. Teaching is delivered through intensive lectures and seminars, with a dedicated research project that is conducted in the third semester and assessed by a written report and oral presentation. Assessment activities occur in designated exam periods in January, May and August. The programme also includes a module exemption for the law component to graduates who hold a qualifying law degree obtained within the previous five years. Graduates acquire advanced knowledge of IP management and are prepared for professional roles in patent attorney work, trade mark practice, litigation or advisory positions.
