Biochemistry MSci

The programme offers a flexible route to a Biochemistry degree, allowing students to qualify as a BSc in three years, a BSc with an integrated industrial placement or overseas study in four years, or an MSci in four or five years. Core foundational modules in the first year introduce communication, chemical and biological principles, while subsequent years combine compulsory advanced topics such as enzyme kinetics, molecular disease mechanisms and protein structures with optional specialist modules in neuroscience, pharmaceutical chemistry and functional genomics. Practical work is emphasized through intensive laboratory sessions, research projects and fieldwork, and assessment mixes written examinations with coursework reports and project presentations. Graduates develop strong analytical, experimental and communication skills, preparing them for careers in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, research institutions and related sectors.
