Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine MSc

The MSc in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine is designed for healthcare professionals seeking advanced knowledge of the perioperative pathway. Delivered by the Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Research Group, the curriculum comprises eight core modules covering the unconscious patient, research methodology, clinical observership, preoperative assessment, postoperative care, pharmacotherapy, and specialty‑specific surgical considerations. A dissertation component allows students to undertake a supervised research project of approximately 15,000 words, fostering specialist expertise and leadership capabilities. Teaching combines lectures, seminars, tutorials and online resources, with access to state‑of‑the‑art facilities at the William Harvey Research Institute. Assessment consists of 67 % module coursework and 33 % dissertation, providing continuous evaluation throughout the programme.
