Curriculum and Modules
The Environmental Monitoring and Assessment program begins with foundational sciences and progressively builds specialized environmental skills over four semesters. During the first semester, you acquire knowledge in biology, chemistry, communications, ethics, botany, zoology, genetics, and lab techniques, before advancing into specialized environmental monitoring and assessment coursework.
Covers fundamental principles of biology and chemistry that underpin environmental science, including cellular biology, chemical reactions, and laboratory safety protocols.
Explores plant biology, animal biology, and genetic principles essential for understanding ecosystems, biodiversity, and the biological impacts of environmental contamination.
Develops skills in performing wet chemical and instrumental analyses of water, wastewater, soil, waste, and air samples for biological, physical, and chemical parameters. Includes preparation of reagents and calibration standards.
Focuses on the design and implementation of environmental monitoring systems, including groundwater monitoring, environmental monitoring plan development, and data analysis from monitoring programs.
