Established in 1962, the institution started its journey by welcoming its first class of 29 communication electrical apprentices. Work While Studying
Students at NAIT are allowed to work while studying.\n\nInternational students with a valid study permit may work up to 24 hours per week off-campus during regular semesters and full-time during scheduled breaks (such as summer or winter holidays).\n\nStudents can also apply for on-campus jobs, often available through the NAIT Students’ Association or other campus departments.\n\nTo work legally, students must be enrolled full-time and hold a Social Insurance Number (SIN).\nNAIT provides guidance through its International Centre about the documents and conditions required to work in Canada.

Co-op/Internship Participation
NAIT offers various internship, co-op, and career services to help students gain practical experience.\n\nMany programs include work-integrated learning components, such as co-op placements or field practicums.\n\nThe Career Advising and Job Services department assists students with resume preparation, interview skills, and job search strategies.\n\nNAIT also partners with numerous industry employers to connect students with internship and employment opportunities related to their field of study.
