You will work alongside students from other MA pathways — including directing, producing, and cinematography — to edit and post produce content for real external clients. Curriculum and Modules — MA Post Production
The MA Post Production curriculum is structured across three trimesters, moving from foundational editing and storytelling skills through advanced workflow and client-facing projects to a final independent Master's project. Each module combines practical craft training with theoretical analysis and professional development.
You will work with raw audio and video data, mastering professional data management processes across the entire production pipeline. This module introduces you to a suite of industry-standard software for video editing, audio editing, effects, compression, and encoding.
This module focuses on the essence of screen storytelling and the role the editor plays in understanding the potential of filmed materials. You will explore how to realise stories and ideas through the editing process while building your career profile.
You will dive into the documentary approach to post production, mastering new Non-Linear Editing modes. The second half covers finishing processes including picture cutting, effects integration, and professional audio mixing.
You will enrich your understanding through client-facing editing assignments, working with directing and producing students to create content for real external clients. This module also deepens your practical skills in post production workflow management.
You will explore how film and television work by examining the relationship between genre, audience, and the industry. This module also covers diversity, sustainability, and ethics within the screen industries, developing your research and analytical skills.
