Bachelor of Dentistry (English)

Overview

The School of Dentistry at Istanbul Medipol University (IMU) provides students with a comprehensive education in dental science, combining theoretical knowledge with practical clinical skills. The curriculum offers opportunities to learn the fundamental principles critical to the entire body of dental knowledge. Students are expected to:

Educational Approach and Goals

The priority of IMU’s School of Dentistry is to provide a high-quality education that incorporates the latest research and technological advancements. Program Duration and Structure

The Dentistry program spans five years, with a one-year English language preparation for students who do not pass the proficiency exam. During the dental education phase, at least 30% of the courses are taught in English, ensuring students are equipped for global opportunities.

First Year

In the first year, students engage in:

• Lectures and laboratory activities
• Preclinical studies in basic sciences, dental anatomy, occlusion, and dental materials

Second Year

The second year builds on foundational knowledge, where students:

• Develop additional preclinical skills
• Apply basic science principles in clinical settings
• Begin hands-on clinical applications

Students who complete the first two years receive a Basic Medical Sciences Diploma.

Third to Fifth Year

In the third, fourth, and fifth years, students focus on:

• Main clinical treatments
• Concurrent lectures to refine technical and diagnostic skills
• Completion of a minimum of two elective courses from various departments, including independent study, research, and special topics

IMU Dental Hospital

Recently inaugurated within the Golden Horn Campus, the IMU Dental Hospital is one of the largest in the area. The hospital offers exceptional services to patients, providing students with invaluable clinical experience in a state-of-the-art environment.
