Program Overview: BA (Hons) Musical Theatre
The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre at Leeds Conservatoire is designed to prepare performers for a sustainable career in the fast-paced Musical Theatre industry. Through studio practice and professional training, you will develop as an authentic, multi-faceted performing artist, undertaking high-level acting, dance, and singing training within the unique environment of the largest multidisciplinary conservatoire in the UK.
Taught in small groups for practical work and training, you will hone your skills as an actor within Musical Theatre through tuition in singing, acting, movement, mime, physical theatre, and voice. Dance training involves classes in ballet, tap, and jazz, inclusive of varying jazz styles such as street, commercial, lyrical, and contemporary found in the modern industry.
In your third year, you will work towards full-scale Musical Theatre public performances, including an industry showcase where casting agents and industry insiders are invited to watch you perform. The course is professionally accredited, allowing graduates to gain full Equity and Spotlight membership upon graduation.

Curriculum and Modules
All modules on the programme have been developed around key themes at each level: Self and Other (Year 1), Style and Character (Year 2), and Public Performance and Transition to the Industry (Year 3). Acting 1: Fundamentals of Dramatic Techniques

Contextual Studies 2: History and Context of Theatre
Year 2 Core ModuleExamines the historical development and cultural contexts of theatre and musical theatre. You will analyse key practitioners, movements, and works that have shaped the art form from diverse perspectives.
Group Public Performance
Year 3 Core ModuleThe culmination of your training, this module involves preparing and performing in full-scale Musical Theatre public productions. You will work towards industry-standard performances that showcase your abilities to professional audiences.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre at Leeds Conservatoire is competitive and based on both academic qualifications and creative potential demonstrated through audition.
