Program Overview — Pharmacy Technician at Humber Polytechnic

Humber Polytechnic's Pharmacy Technician diploma program prepares graduates for rewarding careers in community, hospital, industrial, and long-term care pharmacy settings. The curriculum is developed in consultation with practising pharmacy professionals and focuses on key competency areas including legal and ethical responsibilities, patient care, product distribution, health promotion, and inter-professional collaboration.

You will benefit from hands-on learning in fully equipped simulated labs with low student-to-teacher ratios and expert faculty who are active in the pharmacy profession. Guest speakers from the pharmaceutical industry supplement your classroom learning with real-world insights and current practice trends.

The program spans four semesters and includes two mandatory five-week professional practicums in Semester 4 — one in a retail or community pharmacy and one in a hospital pharmacy. Humber was one of the first Ontario colleges to offer pharmacy technician training and holds full accreditation from the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP).
