BA (Hons) Textile Design at Glasgow School of Art

The BA (Hons) Textile Design programme at Glasgow School of Art prepares you for a future in fashion, interiors, product, automotive, film and television, material innovation, colour, trend forecasting, and other creative areas. Founded in 1845, GSA is one of the few remaining independent art schools in the UK and is internationally recognised as one of Europe's leading institutions for visual creative disciplines.

The curriculum combines practical and theoretical courses across two academic semesters each year, with project-based learning at the heart of studio activity. You will develop your creative identity through skills in research, drawing, colour, design, technical and material investigation, sampling, production, and visualisation of textiles. The programme offers the opportunity to study weave, knit, print, and embroidery before choosing a specialisation.

Sustainable and responsible design thinking is embedded throughout the programme, informing your approaches, practices, and outcomes. Opportunities for international exchanges, collaborative learning, industry projects, and careers and enterprise experiences support the development of graduate skills and attributes. All GSA degree programmes are validated by the University of Glasgow.
