Process Quality Engineering Program Overview

Lean Six Sigma
4 creditsDemonstrates how two complementary continual improvement philosophies combine to achieve rapid improvements in customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and process speed. Students learn to reduce waste, minimize defects, and eliminate non-value-added activities in manufacturing or transactional processes.
Operations Management
4 creditsIntroduces the process of manufacturing and how operations are planned and managed, with emphasis on bringing new products to market. Topics include value-adding concepts, production strategies, lean manufacturing, plant layout, and process flowcharting.
Statistical Methods for Quality Engineering
2 creditsDevelops skills in statistical analysis and decision making, hypothesis testing, estimation of population parameters, sample size determination, analysis of variance, and correlation and regression techniques.
Process and Measurement System Capability Analysis
2 creditsExamines the nature of measurement systems and the fundamental analyses used to evaluate them. Students learn to gauge variation within measurement results and analyze process capability using standard techniques.
Quality Management Systems
4 creditsIntroduces the philosophy and guiding principles of a continuously improving organization. Addresses the roles of leadership, strategic planning, and deployment to exceed customer expectations, including TQM and ISO principles.
Current Topics in Quality Engineering
2 creditsStudents explore and discuss emerging technologies applied to manufacturing and relate their application to the quality function in industry. Includes designing and developing working demonstrations applying new technologies to product and process quality.
