Lean Six Sigma

Demonstrates how two complementary continual improvement philosophies combine to achieve rapid improvements in customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and process speed. Students learn to reduce waste, minimize defects, and eliminate non-value-added activities in manufacturing or transactional processes.

Operations Management

4 credits

Introduces the process of manufacturing and how operations are planned and managed, with emphasis on bringing new products to market. Topics include value-adding concepts, production strategies, lean manufacturing, plant layout, and process flowcharting.

Statistical Methods for Quality Engineering

2 credits

Develops skills in statistical analysis and decision making, hypothesis testing, estimation of population parameters, sample size determination, analysis of variance, and correlation and regression techniques.

Process and Measurement System Capability Analysis

2 credits

Examines the nature of measurement systems and the fundamental analyses used to evaluate them. Students learn to gauge variation within measurement results and analyze process capability using standard techniques.

Quality Management Systems

4 credits

Introduces the philosophy and guiding principles of a continuously improving organization. Addresses the roles of leadership, strategic planning, and deployment to exceed customer expectations, including TQM and ISO principles.

Current Topics in Quality Engineering
