Curriculum & Course Modules
The Advanced CNC Manufacturing program is structured across two semesters, combining foundational CNC skills in the first term with advanced machining, CAM applications, and production planning in the second. Each course emphasizes practical, shop-floor experience alongside theoretical knowledge to ensure you are job-ready upon graduation.
Introduces students to machining components on a CNC machine. You will learn to create and interpret simple CNC programs and safely set up and machine components on CNC equipment.
Covers the uses of SolidWorks for manufacturing and mechanical design, including creating and modifying sketches, parts, assemblies, and drawings. Topics include 2D sketches, plane creation, basic modelling features, and blueprint drawings.
Introduces the use of CAM software to generate part programs for CNC machines, bridging the gap between digital design and physical manufacturing processes.
Teaches the philosophy of traceability applied to quality assurance practices. Students learn common QA procedures, best practices, and standards, and discuss the impact of quality-related decisions on manufacturing operations.
Builds on CNC Machining I to further explore component machining. Students create and edit CNC programs, practice safe setup on CNC vertical milling machines, and assess task instructions and drawings for machining feasibility.
