Ca' Foscari University of Venice was founded on August 6, 1868, as the Scuola Superiore di Commercio (Advanced School for Commerce), making it the first institution of higher education in business and economics in Italy and the second in Europe. Housed in a magnificent 15th-century Gothic palace overlooking the Grand Canal in the heart of Venice, the university blends centuries of academic tradition with a forward-looking, international outlook.
Today, Ca' Foscari is a multidisciplinary public university with over 23,000 students and 1,400 faculty and staff from around the world.
