Brescia University College: A Legacy of Women's Education in Canada

Brescia University College was a Catholic liberal arts women's college located in London, Ontario, Canada, affiliated with Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario). Founded in 1919 by the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham, it held the distinction of being Canada's only university-level women's college. Graduates received their degrees from Western University.

Rooted in the Ursuline tradition of holistic education, Brescia was committed to educating women to lead with wisdom, justice, and compassion. The college offered small class sizes, personalized faculty attention, and innovative programs in arts, social sciences, management, and its signature Food and Nutritional Sciences department. Students of all faiths and backgrounds were welcomed.

Please note that Brescia University College fully integrated into Western University in May 2024 after 104 years of independent operation. Western University introduced a CAD 25-million Brescia Legacy Fund to support students completing their degrees. The campus and its heritage continue under Western University's stewardship.
