Landscape Architecture BA
Main Campus, United Kingdom
This three-year undergraduate degree offers you a broad training in landscape architecture - the planning, design and management of urban and rural landscapes - with a special focus on planning. You’ll study a wide range of landscape theories and creative techniques, working at scales covering the smallest garden, to large-scale urban developments and rewilded country estates, while getting to grips with the social aspects of design. You’ll learn about how your design impacts local residents and why it matters whose voices are heard in the consultation process. You will be supported by our world-renowned researchers and teachers as you develop to become a skilled designer, with a thorough understanding of urban design theory, planning and practice. If you enjoy subjects like geography, politics and history and want to learn about the wider context in which your design takes place, this could be the course for you. At the end of your third year, you can choose whether to continue to train as a professional landscape architect, or to apply your new skills in other directions. Graduates of this course wishing to pursue Chartership must complete an independent year in practice, followed by a masters in Professional Landscape Architecture. On graduation you’ll join our global community of alumni who, at last count, are practising in over 70 countries worldwide. Access to this network gives you an immediate connection to established professionals in a wide range of practices.
