The Department's scientific goal is not only to strengthen, promote, and enhance the scientific expertise of individual faculty members and research groups, but also to contribute, through its research, to the social and economic development of its geographic area by strengthening its relationships with the broader community. The Department intends to contribute to this through the successful integration of an ever-increasing number of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects, based on cooperation with local, national, and international institutions. This aspect, within a framework of expertise such as advanced diagnostics, neuroscience, and basic research—intended as an initial and irreplaceable driver for the subsequent development of topics in preclinical and clinical research—will find countless opportunities for growth and development within the Department.
