Wildlife and Fisheries (Co-Op) Bachelor
Prince George (Main Campus), Canada
Overview
The Bachelor of Wildlife and Fisheries (Co-Op) is an applied undergraduate programme focused on the conservation, management, and sustainable use of wildlife and aquatic resources. It provides a strong foundation in biological and environmental sciences while developing the practical skills required to address real-world challenges in wildlife and fisheries management.
Students study key topics such as ecology, wildlife biology, fisheries science, population dynamics, habitat management, conservation policy, and environmental monitoring. The programme emphasises hands-on learning through fieldwork, laboratory studies, data analysis, and applied research, allowing students to gain experience with modern scientific methods and tools.
A defining feature of the programme is the co-operative education (Co-Op) component, which offers paid, supervised work placements with government agencies, conservation organisations, environmental consultancies, and industry partners. These placements allow students to apply classroom knowledge in professional settings, develop technical and transferable skills, and build valuable industry connections before graduation.
Throughout the degree, students develop strong competencies in problem-solving, data collection, communication, teamwork, and ethical decision-making. Graduates of the Wildlife and Fisheries (Co-Op) Bachelor’s programme are well prepared for careers in wildlife conservation, fisheries management, environmental assessment, natural resource management, and related fields. The programme also provides an excellent foundation for postgraduate study in environmental science, conservation biology, or resource management.
