Program Overview: BSc Clinical Dental Technology

The BSc (Hons) Clinical Dental Technology at the University of Lancashire is a groundbreaking programme, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, that trains you to become a qualified clinical dental technician. You will develop both technical laboratory skills and direct patient care competencies using cutting-edge technology including intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM design, milling, and 3D printing systems.

A distinctive feature of this programme is its integrated learning model, where you study alongside Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and BSc Dental Therapy students. This collaborative approach mirrors real-world dental team practice, preparing you to work effectively within multidisciplinary dental teams from day one of your career.

Your first two years involve training in the on-site dental laboratory and the University of Lancashire Dental Clinic, building foundational technical and clinical skills. In Year 3, you gain further clinical experience in the University of Lancashire Community Dental Clinic in Preston, treating real patients under expert supervision.
