Applied Community & Social Care Studies BA
Preston Campus, United Kingdom
Year 1 introduces key foundations in community and social care. You’ll study human development, wellbeing and safeguarding, alongside sociology, social policy and politics. Modules also focus on relational and community practice, helping you build communication skills and understand how theory links to real-world care settings.
Year 2 develops your analytical and professional skills. You’ll explore comparative social policy, welfare delivery and management, and deepen your understanding of relational practice. You’ll also study social inequality and safeguarding in multi-agency contexts, while gaining research skills applied to real practice settings. Optional modules allow exploration of topics such as crime, race and ethnicity.
Year 3 focuses on advanced and independent work. You’ll critically analyse social policy and welfare systems, develop management skills for community practice, and complete a research project within a social care setting. Your dissertation enables in-depth study of a chosen topic, preparing you for professional roles across community and social care sectors.
