Year 1 introduces core animation principles, combining theory and practice. You’ll study animation history and film theory while developing fundamental skills in movement, form and expression. Modules include model making for stop-motion, drawing, visual research and software training, building a strong creative foundation.
Year 2 develops your creative and technical abilities through more independent and industry-focused work. You’ll explore animation through self-directed or market-led projects, while advancing skills in 2D and 3D animation, storytelling and film analysis. You’ll also gain experience in animation production, VFX and advanced model making, refining your approach to design and production processes.
Year 3 focuses on professional-level practice. You’ll apply your knowledge to research and pre-production, developing ideas to industry standards. The honours project allows you to create a distinctive body of work, while learning about clients, markets and business. You’ll also explore creating animated TV series for broadcast and digital platforms, preparing for a career in animation.
